Arsenal and Liverpool consider shock double raid for Manchester United stars The 10 teams with the most Premier League goals

ARSENAL and Liverpool are on red alert to sign Manchester United duo Chris Smalling and Luke Shaw, according to reports.

Jose Mourinho has reportedly fallen out with Shaw and Smalling after he appeared to criticise them after the 3-1 win over Swansea last week.

Both players are said to be less than impressed with Mourinho's treatment of them in the media - prompting interest in the duo from Arsenal and Liverpool.

The Mirror claim the Gunners have rekindled their interest in Smalling, having missed out on bringing him to the Emirates in 2010.

Arsene Wenger is said to be a long-term admirer of the England international and is keen to add to his defensive ranks after bringing in Shkodran Mustafi from Valencia over the summer.

The report adds Liverpool have an eye on Shaw as they remain in the market for a first-choice left-back after playing James Milner in the position this season.

Shaw will reportedly set the Reds back £29million, but a deal between the Anfield club and United seems unlikely given their great rivalry.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic scored the 25,000 Premier League goal in Manchester United’s win over Swansea, but which team has scored the most goals in the top flight?

“Smalling doesn't feel that he can play 100 per cent with his pain,” Mourinho said ahead of the Swansea game last week.

“Shaw told me this morning that he wasn't in the condition to play, so we had to build a defensive line."

Asked if Smalling and Shaw had to change their mindset, Mourinho added: “Exactly. More for Manchester United than for me.”

Shaw has made 11 appearances for United this term but has been in and out of the squad in recent weeks.

Smalling has similarly had an up-and-down season for the Red Devils, making just five Premier League starts and has been ruled out with a foot injury.
