Arsenal injury shock: First-team star to return to training next week

ARSENAL defender Hector Bellerin is reportedly set to return to training next week.

Hector Bellerin, who last week signed a new six-year contract at Arsenal, has been sidelined since he picked up an ankle injury against Tottenham earlier this month.

The Gunners right-back was initially ruled out of action for at least a month but The Sun claim he will return to light training next week.

Arsene Wenger, who has been forced to play Carl Jenkinson at right-back in Bellerin's absence, was gutted to lose the Spaniard so late on in the 1-1 draw with Tottenham.

“Hector is out for four weeks,” Wenger said. "He got injured in the last ten seconds against Spurs after a very strong tackle by Danny Rose.

“It’s an ankle injury. It was a bad one. It’s annoying to lose Bellerin. Did Rose want to injure Bellerin? I don’t think so. He just went in for the tackle.”

Bellerin has become as a first-team regular at Arsenal since making his debut in the 2013/14 season, recently penning a new contract worth £100,000 a week.
