Arsenal Star Finally Set To Sign New Five-Year Deal

Mesut Ozil is finally ready to commit his future to the club and will sign a new five-year deal worth £160,000-a-week shortly, according to the Sunday Mirror.

Discussions between the Germany international and the Gunners are at an advanced stage, and are set to continue after the international break.

After a stunning start to the season Ozil will have a well-deserved rest after Sunday’s clash with Tottenham, with Germany confirming he has been left out of their latest squad.

The report claims a club source says negotiations with Ozil are “getting closer” with the Gunners now increasingly confident he will commit his long-term future.

Ozil’s current deal expires in 2018 and manager Arsene Wenger has previously insisted that Arsenal is the best place for him to continue his career.

The 28-year-old is reportedly happier to stay at the club following the summer arrival of compatriot Shkodran Mustafi, which has helped convince him to remain in north London.

Wenger has also this week warned Ozil that he will not become a club legend unless he stays at the club, but feels he can have the same impact on the Gunners as Dennis Bergkamp.

Certainly Ozil has been in stunning form this season, with seven goals already, including his first senior hat-trick and an 87th minute winner against Ludogorets that Eric Cantona has described as being a “pure __football orgasm”.

News of a five-year deal is bound to boost the Gunners who have enjoyed a fine week and will be hoping it continues with victory over Tottenham on Sunday.
