Lucas Perez has criticised the tackle which has left him missing up to two months of Arsenal action.
Spaniard Perez, a £17m summer signing from Deportivo La Coruna, limped out of the EFL Cup clash with Reading last month.
Reading defender Danzell Gravenberch's challenge has left Perez on the sidelines but he is targeting a return in the near future.
He claims that he is disappointed with the setback - but says that has questioned the motives behind Gravenberch's tackle.
“The injury is a shame, but we have to fight," he said in Marca.
"I didn’t understand where the player was going with the tackle, but these are just occupational hazards.”
He is not the only one who believes that he was hurt deliberately.
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger claimed after the challenge that the tackle should have seen Gravenberch dismissed - the Dutchman wasn't even booked.
“He’s absolutely gutted because it’s an injury coming from nowhere and a stupid one.
"It was a kick, a deliberate kick. It was not needed."
Perez has played only 97 minutes of Premier League __football so far this season, including one start and two appearances from the bench.
His only goals for the Gunners came in the EFL Cup third round win over Nottingham Forest, scoring twice in the 4-0 victory.
