Former Arsenal captain William Gallas holds no regrets over that infamous protest incident Arsenal train ahead of Manchester United trip

WILLIAM GALLAS admits his infamous one-man protest after Arsenal's 2-2 draw with Birmingham in 2008 was simply because he was enraged.

Gallas staged his own sit-down protest after Arsenal blew a two-goal lead at St Andrews.

At the time Arsenal were well on their way to clinching their first Premier League title since 2004 but the draw proved to be the catalyst for their league failures that season.

Following the result Arsenal would go on a run of just one win in seven games as Manchester United went on to win the league that season.

And reflecting on his incredible sulk, Gallas admits it was silly on his behalf but insisted emotions were running high.

"Maybe I was stupid but I was passionate," Gallas said.

"It was very, very important for us to win the title and the players next to me were very young. I was mad."

Gallas was appearing on Sky Sports programme The Fantasy Football Club and also named his ultimate XI from his career.

The 35-year-old named six Chelsea players in his best XI and admitted his time there was the best of his career.

"Chelsea was my best spell in England. Jose Mourinho gave me the feeling of winning a trophy and it's unbelievable," he added.
