Arsenal have confirmed that full-back Hector Bellerin has committed his future to the club by signing a new long-term deal with the Gunners.
“I just wanted to say that I just signed my new deal with the club,” he said via Arsenal‘s official Twitter account.
“I’m really really happy. As you know I’ve been here a long time. I feel like this is my home and this is the right thing to do. I’m happy to still be a Gunner for many more years.”
Reports claim that Bellerin has signed a six-and-a-half-year deal worth £100,000-a-week which will keep him in north London until 2023.
The news will be a massive boost to the Gunners with Bellerin already a key player and they will hope Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez can follow in his footsteps.
Bellerin is currently out of action with an ankle problem picked up in the 1-1 draw against Tottenham that is expected to keep him out of action for the rest of the month.
The Spain Under-21 international has previously admitted he opted to leave Barcelona for Arsenal because he felt more valued by the Gunners and also feels that the Premier League suits him more than la Liga.
Arsenal will also be relieved not to see another of their key stars head to Camp Nou, having already seen players such as Cesc Fabregas and Thierry Henry head to the Catalan giants.
While the news will be welcomed at Arsenal they will also be keen to get him back in action as soon as possible.
Bellerin is not expected back until just before Christmas but could possibly be fit just in team to face Manchester City, one of the clubs who were reportedly keen to sign him.
