PSG Suffer Double Injury Blow Ahead of Arsenal Clash

Paris Saint-Germain coach Unai Emery has admitted that the French champions have injury concerns ahead of Wednesday’s crucial Champions League clash at the Emirates.

The two teams go into the game locked on points at the top of Group A and knowing that victory for either side will likely see them finish as group winners.

Arsenal salvaged a late draw at Parc des Princes in the first fixture between the two sides and go into the game buoyed by having rescued a late point against Manchester United at Old Trafford on Saturday.

PSG, meanwhile, beat Nantes 2-0 on Saturday but saw both Angel Di Maria and Javier Pastore forced off due to injury which marred the win.

Di Maria opened the scoring but lasted just 36 minutes of the game although Emery says his substitution for a thigh problem was a “precaution” and is hopeful he will be fit.

“There is a rest day tomorrow,” Emery said according to ESPN. “He will be given time to recover but I think he will be in London for the match on Wednesday.”

Pastore, meanwhile, came on late and won a penalty but then was forced off with a knee problem and Emergy was unsure of his prognosis:  “We know he will have to do some exams with the doctor, some analysis.”

The victory puts PSG level on points with Monaco at the top of Ligue 1 and Emery is now turning his attention to the Gunners.

“For the moment, we are doing some things well but we need to improve,” he said.

“Arsenal? This evening, we were fully concentrated on Nantes. Now we will prepare to face Arsenal. We want to do a good job in London.”

Arsenal required a late equaliser to grab a point against PSG in September and face a tough test on Wednesday, particularly with top spot up for grabs.
