Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger fires back at Jack Wilshere over Emirates doubts

ARSENAL boss Arsene Wenger has responded to Jack Wilshere after the midfielder suggested his long-term future may not lie at the Emirates.

The England ace is on loan at Bournemouth this season after a series of injuries left him on the fringes of Wenger's starting XI.

But when asked whether Wilshere can have a career with the Gunners, Arsene Wenger smiled and was unequivocal with his response.

He said: "I think he has, but that’s my opinion."

Earlier this week, Wilshere revealed his omission from the England squad in August forced his decision to leave in the summer.

And he then admitted to being unsure about whether his future will be at Arsenal.

"I don't want to think about that at the moment because I want to go back having had a good season - not just being fit, but I want to have an effect on the team," he added.

"I want to improve as a player and go back at the end of May and they can say he's a better player than when he left in September.

"I love Arsenal. I love the fans. The manager has been great to me and been a big part of my life from when I was 10 years old. I've got good friends there, players, the staff and people will laugh, but the physios too. I've become close with them.

"So I don't want to say I'm never going to go back there but at the same time, I'm not really thinking about that. My focus is helping Bournemouth climb the table and improving myself as a player."
