Robin van Persie narrowly escaped a career-ending injury after he was stretchered off and taken to hospital in Fenerbahce's 3-1 win over Akhisar on Sunday.
The former Arsenal and Manchester United man scored the opening goal for the Istanbul club just before the half-hour mark but was carried off the field just before half-time.
The Dutchman went down in agony after appearing to get caught by the flailing arm of an opponent.
He was left bleeding from his left eye which was dressed on the field before he was taken in an ambulance for treatment.

Images of the striker's bleeding eye were soon all over social media with many fans expressing fears the 33-year-old had been blinded and would never play again.
But Van Persie returned to the game with a bandage over his eye to watch his team register their fourth straight win since their 4-1 Europa League defeat by the 33-year-old's former club at Old Trafford last month.
A statement on the Fenerbahce website from the club doctor revealed Van Persie had torn his eye-lid but not suffered any damage to the eye itself.
