Three Arsenal stars called up for England internationals

Roy Hodgson has three Arsenal stars for England’s Euro qualification match against Lithuania and friendly against Italy.

Danny Welbeck was an almost certain choice for Hodgson but there might be a few shocked faces to discover both Kieran Gibbs and Theo Walcott are also in the squad.

Walcott has been used sparingly by Wenger since his return for a long-term injury, that also kept him out of the World Cup in the summer.

He’s only managed ten appearances so far this season, despite being fit since October.

For Gibbs, this will be his seventh cap after playing in England’s two previous 2016 qualifiers against Slovenia and San Marino whilst he featured in the friendly with Scotland in November.

Calum Chambers is snubbed which is understandable given his limited game-time since Koscielny has proven his fitness but he has featured lately and looked in good nick.

Meanwhile, Jack Wilshere and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain miss out through their respective injuries.
