Arsenal still has a chance to make history

Arsenal have eight games to go until the end of the season. That is, simply put twenty four points to play for and if they can successfully negotiate the tricky fixtures that are Liverpool, Manchester United, and Chelsea, they have supposedly easier fixtures that they should win comfortably. Of course, as Monaco have shown us, there is nothing like an easy game.

Still, with Chelsea only seven points ahead of us and looking a little bit out of sorts at the moment with their star player with the most assists in the Premier League, Cesc Fabregas, having a torrid time, this is the right time for Arsenal to mount a serious charge for the title. Jose Mourinho has began to realize his blunder by sticking with the same team game after game and now the players in his team have burnt out.

If Arsenal are able to pull off a miracle and win the Premier League, it will be Wenger’s greatest triumph for a couple of reasons. One, he would have seen off the challenge of Liverpool and Manchester United that have been breathing down our neck while overtaking not one but two clubs and beating them to the title. That is certainly no mean feat. Two, it will give him a chance to go ahead and claim the double by also winning the FA cup, something that he is quite capable of doing.

Only time will tell where Arsenal will be come the end of the season but the bouncebackability that they have shown in recent times now needs to come to the fore. Olivier Giroud has been the spearhead of the team never letting his head drop once. Instead of looking at the glass half empty, how about we start appreciating the position we find ourselves in.

If Thierry Henry and Co had given up against Liverpool, there would be no invincibles to talk about. Now this Arsenal team has a real chance to forge their own history.
