Over the past few days several trusted media outlets have said the club are targeting the Serbian hard-man with Arsene Wenger keen to bring in another defender.
There are said to be growing doubts over Per Mertesacker’s viability at the back, particularly given he’s one of the elder statesmen of the squad and will be 31-years-old next season.
Dortmund have previously said they will not go into next season with players entering their final 12 months so, as with Ilkay Gundogan, are working feverishly to secure the future of several of their stars.
However, the club’s sporting director has made it clear the club won’t be looking to sell.
“We would like to prolong the contract with Neven,” Michael Zorc is quoted as telling Bild by ESPN.
