Tottenham Hotspur hardly enjoyed last night’s match at Wembley. A woeful performance, a poor result, and now a possible injury to one of the team’s key players.
Mousa Dembele limped off just after the half-hour mark and could now miss the North London Derby on Sunday. The midfielder returned to the bench later on clutching an ice pack to his ankle.
“We need to show more,” Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino said after the match, “We were poor again, we need to find answers in ourselves. We need to be critical.
“We need to improve and we don’t have too much time.”
Spurs could also be without centre-back Toby Alderweireld and start striker Harry Kane. The pair are back in training after lengthy injuries but it’s unclear whether they will be fit enough to take part in the match. Harry Kane is a bigger doubt and Pochettino doesn’t exactly seem optimistic about the chance of the striker playing.
“This result will not change the idea, but it will be difficult for Kane to play from the start.”
It’s a blow for Spurs but with the North London Derby just three days away, it will be music to the ears of most Arsenal fans.
